Happy Father's day dad!! As always, you still win the #1 dad award of course. A longer victory streak than even Ken jennings on Jeopardy, I do believe.
That is all. let us all go forth together.
That is about the extent of the French I remember. Pretty pathetic right? You would think four years of learning wouldn't be forgotten so fast, but c'est la vie when you are a missionary in a mission with more than 18 dialects that are all way cooler than French (sorry dad and Jameson...) and maybe i'ts the fact that everyone here makes fun of French and French people so much that any interest in actually speaking that language has been lost.
Word for the day-- ambaniandro, which is what everyone in the outer provences call the Merina, official Malagasy people here in Tana and areas close by. Little did I know, it is actually pretty offensive to call someone here an ambaniandro... they don't like that very much.
The week started off good with a zone conference we had on Tuesday that took up most of the day. We learned and talked about lots of things-- President Adams taught about the Abrahamic covenant, had a question and answer session, we had recent converts come in and talk about the church and tips they have for the missionaries (one of them was george! way sweet), a security guy from South Africa talk about staying secure, the APs taught about teaching doctrine and using the scriptures, the zone leaders taught about personal revelation and the Spirit (used d and c 67:10 as part of it), had a scripture chase activity (our team slayed, don't worry, we did ya proud) and ate delicious food cooked by sis Adams. A day well spent.
The rest of the week just kinda went as weeks sometimes do; some days better than others, some lessons were awesome some weren't quite as splendid, some hills were steeper than others, and some food tasted better than other food. That is just how it is. But it is those great lessons and the delicious food that makes it all worth it!
We did have a great time with these certain people we teach. It is a somewhat active dad whose two young kids we started teaching because they are both over 8. We use it as an opportunity to make him more active as well as activate his oldest daughter, who is a less active member. When we went to teach them on Saturday his son, who lives up in the north, was in town with his wife. He was so awesome. He had learned from the missionaries ages ago but remembered like everything about Joseph Smith and things, and has great faith in all of that, and there was a special spirit with this guy that you could tell he was just... different, better than normal people. They say they might be staying here in town a long time too, so pray they do! His wife is straight, hardcore northern speaker. Just absolute insanity whenever she speaks, it is like the coolest thing ever basically. I love it. Now I just need to learn it.
Two of our investigators, a mom and her daughter, passed their baptismal interviews on Saturday. They will be getting baptized on the 21st. It is doubly good because we are finally breaking the 7+ month long drought of baptisms in this ward. It has been forever.
That is all. let us all go forth together.
Love
Elder Fox
