Hope all is good in your neck of the woods. It's been a while since I've imparted that oh-so-useful Malagasy knowledge with you, so this week we got a good one-- miorganize. True story, I heard someone use that the other days. It's hilarious how they just take French words and put a 'mi' in front of it and then they call it Malagasy. it's kinda like what we do in English though... like a lot. So it's acceptable. (miorganize means to organize, as I assumed was discerned by yall...)
There is a super mazoto member of our ward who is deaf. And, because of the fact that they don't really have Malagasy sign language, this guy has made his own sign language for himself. The missionaries have always learned it so they can translate for him in church and teach him and stuff (no other members really know it...) so I have been learning little by little. He is an awesome guy, the nicest and most loving one I have met. We want to teach him ASL so he can watch conference etc, which we are going to start doing. It'll be quite a task, but by small and simple things right?
We did, however, have a very good visit to our first counselor in the bishopric. We visited him to get to know him, get referrals, help him out with anything, and ended up going right over to his next door neighbor's to teach them. It was awesome though, because at first when he brought it up he was a little reluctant and didn't really know what to do, but we encouraged him as did our DMP, and he showed his true character by accepting the challenge right then and there. It was cool how he stepped up, which is an excellent example for all others in our ward. Leaders are the ones who need to be willing to do that type of thing.
So that's about all for the week. Mivavaha mandrakariva ka aza mitsahatra daholo! (pray always and never cease everyone)
love
Me
