Wassuppppppp.
Life is good here, life is good. We had a good week of beach parties, swimming in the ocean, and listening to music really loud in our car. Just great stuff.
That is actually not what we did, believe it or not! Most of our days were spent walking and teaching and preaching and sweating and stressing and working even more. Yesterday I gave a talk in church which was fun, it had been a while since I have been able to give one... like a long long while. The last one i gave was back in Mahamasina when I was with Elder Rakotonjanahary! (who I still see frequently, as he lives here) I talked about love, specifically quoting from Monson's talk 'Love- Foundation principle of the Gospel' and from Evek Causse's 'Strangers No More' talk. There just isn't enough love, people just don't care enough about the other members and investigators. It's gotta change!
The rest of our program after church yesterday went straight down the toilet, it was quite a depressing sight as Elder Galbreath and I fought to push through... and then alas, at 6pm, a glorious beam of light and joy! We taught P's family! Please allow me a brief second to tell you more about P and his wife E, and their daughters, and sons. They are incredible, holy cow, they are just ridiculously perfect... too perfect. Happiest family of all time, as I may have previously told you. They devour all the teaching we bring them and understand it extremely well. Taught about the BiM last week, came back today, and they had already been just snarfin it up, even using the Torolalan' ny Soratra Masina (like bible dictionary thing moa? in the back of the boky) to read about baptism and different beliefs of the church. During our lesson with them he goes off about the teachings and what he has learned and things like that, basically telling us everything we need to know to help them progress. They already really want to come to church (they didn't yesterday, but haven't given them a firm commitment yet so thats no biggie) and are in the perfect position, in that they have already changed faiths before in their lives in looking for the truth, to understand the importance of finding the true church and then joining said church. They are acquaintances with one of the most converted couples in our branch as well, our relief society president, so we are hoping that connection will get some sweet friendship going on. Man, there is just too much perfectness for me to even put down in words. As you can tell, I'm pretty pumped for them. This branch needs solid families so badly, and leaders as well, so give P and his fam some time and we are hoping that he could become a big player in the branch.
On Saturday we had an emergency MLC meeting called, which basically slayed our program that day but cest la vie, when president calls you answer. I recognize their importance and the need for them, and alot of times they can be a way good council, but they aren't my favorite meetings in the entire world sometimes. I dunno, sometimes opinions don't reallly flow together all too well I guess. Anyways, the big issue nowadays is innappropriate use of allotment money, especially by the missionaries from Africa. It is way hard for them because they come from ridiculously poor circumstances and then suddenly get a monthly allotment that is more money than they have seen in their entire lives, and then they are expected to follow strict guidelines on how it is used. Tough, tough situation.
Final thing-- get yourselves prepared ladies and gentlemen, the District Soccer World Cup is comin up here soon! and the missionary team 'Bekintana' is about to stomp on some fools.... or so I'll dream haha whatever way it goes hahah but it'll be fun, the district loves the idea and are getting way excited. It's on the 28th of Feb, but we have a little match this Saturday morning with the District leadership and the missionaries, so it'll be good. Pray for us yeah? haha
As CS Lewis said, 'it doesn't matter if you actually love them, act like you do.' What does that mean? Don't bother worrying about whether you think you truly love someone or not before you serve them and care for them, because once you serve them you will find out that you actually do love them! There is no actually loving someone unless you act like you do anyways, so it doesn't matter what you feel inside or say if it isn't actually carried out. So what are we flippin sitting around for !
