Monday was the calm before the storm; we only had a few people sleeping over at our house first of all (transfer week), but also we had the awesomest soiree of all time-- all the missionaries that have served in Ft D (fox, hein, rice, evans, hamm, randrimamonisoa) and their companions together with Pres Danielson and Dimby and their entire families!! They are all up here in Tana for vacation, so we decided we had to get together before they went back and the missionaires went home. Absolutely loved seeing them again. Ft D for life.

8 missionaries went home. We got to have a final departure dinner and testimony meeting with them the Tuesday night before they left. I'm not going to lie, it's a pretty weird feeling to be their with all of them going home. Weird in that it makes me want to bawl my eyes out the fact that that will one day be me. But as Aragorn says in Lord of the Rings, today is not that day! Therefore I will refrain from thinking about it, ever. Ignorance is bliss right? but truthfully to experience being with a group of missionaries going home only inspires one to serve everyday as if it were his last day.
One of the new missionaries is Frederic, the one from Ft D who saved us when we were in the trio down there by going on splits with us almost everyday. He is now in Tana being trained.
Elder Hamilton of the 70, and in the Southeast African Area Presidency was here for zone conferences, which was straight up amazing! He did the most part of the program, and boy oh boy is he incredible. My respect and admiration of him just grew and grew as I saw what a leader and teacher he is. Without a doubt he is called of God and was prepared for his calling, for he could just explain and teach everything in the simplest, clearest, yet profoundest way. But more than that I got to watch and observe how he interacts with members (and this applies to missionaries too). It was in such a kind, loving, personal way, you could tell that whoever he was talking to knew without a doubt that they were loved by both him and their Heavenly Father. He was there for them. He knew them even though he didn't know them, and they trust him without even knowing him. I felt that just through simple observance and very little one on one time, but it's true. The church is in good hands-- the church is in God's hands that is. And those He has called are qualified for the work.
